Gales Creek campground is located about 40 minutes west of Portland off of highway 6 in the Tilamook Forest and is nestled right next to, you guessed it, Gales Creek. The main appeal of this campground is its extremely close proximity to Portland and excellent setting next to Gales Creek. Many of the sites in this campground are creek side but there are also many that are within a loop and require a very short walk to the creek. Gales Creek does not take reservations at this time and is a first come, first serve campground. There is plenty to do around Gales Creek and it is located just down the road from Brown’s Camp and Roger’s Camp – two very popular Off Highway Vehicle destinations. There is also excellent hiking and mountain biking in the area which makes Gales Creek a top choice for a quick getaway from Portland. Make sure you get there early though as this popular campground fills up quickly especially during the warmer weekends of the year.
My family and I love this campground it’s so peaceful relaxing and quite. Since its such a small campground unfortunately it can fill up quick, but the size is one of the things we love most besides the creek that flows right by most of the sites.
I am wondering if Gales Creek Campground, the picnic area along the creek is what used to be Mary’s Place?
Not sure. Never heard of Mary’s Place. What is it?
Hey can we take charcoal grills?
When is the check in and out time at gales creek campsite?
