Milo McIver State Park Campground Description

Nestled in the scenic landscape of Clackamas County, Milo McIver State Park is a haven for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. This sprawling park offers a wide range of recreational activities and camping options, making it an ideal destination for a serene getaway or an adventure-filled vacation.  The adjacent Estacada Lake is a popular boating and swimming destination for park visitors.  The Clackamas River also parallels the park and there are two riverside day use areas with boat ramps and parking.  The park also offers hiking trails, a disc golf course, horseback riding, fishing, paddle sports rentals, a fish hatchery, an off-leash pet area and an impressive viewpoint showcasing Mt. Hood.

Milo McIver Campground Overview

While the overall park at Milo McIver is massive at 950 acres the campground itself is relatively small and only has a total of 53 campsites. Of those 53 campsites 44 have electrical hookups and 7 are tent only sites.  The main loop hosts the electrical hookup sites and a second loop is where you can find the tent only sites.  The main loop is a great setup with most of the sites having plenty of privacy and lots of space for parking larger rigs and additional vehicles.  The campground is situation in a densely wooded area proving ample summer shade and is a short walk down a trail to Estacada Lake.  The campground features flushing toilets, showers, firewood for sale, and RV dump station and pretty much all the other standard amenities you can expect from a state park.

The primary summertime attraction at Milo McIver State Park is the Clackamas River.  Whether enjoying yourself on Estacada Lake or floating the river to Barton Park there is something here for everyone. You don’t even need to bring a boat with you… Clackamas River Outfitters is on site at the boat launch and offers day use boat rentals.  The town of Estacada is also just a short 7 minute drive from the park should you need anything in town.  This is also a great park to establish as a “base camp” for those looking to explore the upper corridor of the Clackamas River.

Overall Milo McIver State park is a well maintained campground with plenty of recreational opportunities.  Just be sure to make reservations in advance as this campground is small and popular and fills up quickly.

Huge State Park, Great Campground

December 13, 2023

Milo McIver State Park offers something for everyone and this gem really shines during the summer time with multiple points for river/lake access. The campground is very nice with sites spread out from eachother for maximum privacy. It is also setup well for larger RVs or trailers if thats your thing. Proximity to the Portland metro area is great as well and the Clackamas River corridor is just a short drive away. Would stay here again.
