Ainsworth Campground Description
Ainsworth Campground is one of the few campgrounds located in the Columbia River Gorge area and is situated very close to Multnomah Falls on the old Columbia River Scenic Highway. Being one of the few campgrounds near Multnomah Falls, Ainsworth Campground is an ideal destination for those looking to spend some time waterfall hunting in Oregon.
Ainsworth Campground is really more of a “RV” campground as most sites come equipped with electrical and water hookups and there is an onsite dump station. There are six walk in tent sites and a designated biker/hiker camping area that is set away from the RV section. The campground is situated slightly up from the old Columbia River Scenic Highway which gives it some distance from the roar of Highway 84 – however you can still clearly hear trucks and freight trains passing by.
The campground comes equipped with flushing toilets and showers, cell service, a camp host and firewood for sale. Potable water is also provided and there is a small lawn are campers can enjoy. Perhaps the biggest draw to Ainsworth Campground is its proximity to many, many natural attractions and hiking trails in the area. This a great place to make your base camp if you want to see all that the Columbia River Gorge has to offer.
Overall Ainsworth Campground is not a bad spot to spend the night, especially if you have an RV. If tent camping though, we would suggest looking at some of the other nearby campgrounds that will get you away from the noise of highway 84.
