Candle Creek Campground Description

Located on the scenic Metolius River in the heart of the Deschutes National Forest, Candle Creek Campground is a hidden gem in Central Oregon. As the furthest downstream campground along the Metolius, it offers a unique and tranquil camping experience on the river’s west side. Candle Creek runs parallel to the campground, merging with the Metolius River, adding to the picturesque setting.

Candle Creek Campground features 10 well-spaced campsites, providing a sense of privacy and seclusion:

  • Pit Toilets: Basic but clean facilities.
  • Campsites: Sites 9 and 10 are first come, first served, while the other sites can be reserved online.
  • No Potable Water: Be sure to bring your own drinking water.

The campground is accessible via a series of dirt roads, adding to its rustic charm. However, due to the small size of the parking spaces, it’s not ideal for larger RVs or trailers. This makes it perfect for tent campers and small vehicle camping.

Great and secluded campground

June 6, 2024

This is the last campground on the Metolius River and getting to it can be a little tricky but it is definitely worth it. The sites are spaced out great and the forest here is so clean and easy to walk through. Candle Creek and the Metolius River straddle this campground giving nearly every site a water front view. Easily one of the best spots on the Metolius.
