Fox Creek Group Campground Description
Fox Creek Group Campground is an open, barren area under high power lines with little shade, surrounded by dense forest near where Fox Creek flows into the Breitenbush River. It accommodates up to 75 guests, including tent campers and RVs of any size, with ample parking. Facilities include an accessible vault toilet, dumpster, campfire rings, and picnic tables. Note that there is no water service at this site. Reservations can be made up to 12 months in advance at RECREATION.GOV or by calling 877-444-6777.
Fox Creek offers access to miles of scenic hiking trails within the Willamette National Forest, which boasts 1,700 miles of trails, including those in the nearby Mount Jefferson Wilderness. Campers can fish for rainbow trout and swim in the Breitenbush River.
The campground is a short walk from the Breitenbush River, a tributary of Oregon’s North Santiam River, at an elevation of 1,700 feet. The Willamette National Forest features high mountains, narrow canyons, cascading streams, and wooded slopes, providing excellent sightseeing and recreation opportunities.
Detroit Lake, located within 10 miles, offers activities such as power boating, water skiing, kayaking, and canoeing. Additional nearby activities include off-highway vehicle recreation, hunting, hiking, backpacking, scenic driving, and soaking in hot springs.
