Climber’s Bivouac Campground Description
Is this really a campground? Well, sort of. It is a one night place to plop your tent for anearly morning start up Mount Saint Helens. Some sites are nicely tucked in the trees, some sites amidst the asphalt of the parking lot, and others scattered in sloped plots amongst the trees. Piped water, pit toilets, no tables, a few fire rings.
Bonuses: no fees. Trail head for the Monitor Ridge Trail to the summit of Mount Saint Helens. The truly adventurous can hike the Loowit Trail around Mount Saint Helens, a fabulous route around the mountain, crossing lava fields, old growth forest, deep canyons, narrow side hill travels, the “blast zone”, and miles and miles of world flowers. Way better than the summit. Allow three days.
