Not a fan of vault toilets? Like camping near mowed fields, playgrounds, horseshoes, volleyball courts and the sound of white water ? You may have found your match. Beaver campground is located a little over and hour from the Portland Metro area and offers luxurious (relative to backwoods) camping for the whole family. There is a mix of vault toilets and flushing toilets at this campground – but no showers. The campsites are well spread out for the most part and offer some decent privacy. In general, this campground fills with families and children due to the large playing fields, swing sets and volleyball courts that are nearby. The wind river also offers activities for anglers or those who just want to dip their toes in the water and kick back while enjoying the sound of nature.
You might notice some of the campsites at Beaver Campground are numbered and then followed by a “D”. This means it is a “double” site and has two picnic tables. These sites are meant for a large group of campers. For huge parties, there is a massive group campsite that can accommodate up to 60 campers and 20 vehicles.
Overall Beaver Campground is a great campground for families or those who are new to the overnight outdoor experience. More tenured campers might be annoyed with the excessive amount of children running around and minivans found in every other campsite. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
