Silver Falls State Park Campground Description

Silver Falls State Park Campground is a picturesque campground that offers a wide variety of camping options, from tent sites to RV spots to cozy cabins. The campground features 48 electrical sites with water, 43 tent sites with water nearby (seasonal May–Oct.), and 14 cabins (7 pet-friendly, open year-round). There are also flushing toilets and showers, as well as potable water and firewood for sale. Accessible campsites, cabins, and restrooms/showers are available as well.

The campground also has a designated horse campground for equestrian enthusiasts, which includes a group site for 24 people and 12 horses, as well as five primitive sites with horse stalls at the Howard Creek Horse Camp (seasonal May–Oct.). Reservations for the campground can be made up to 6 months in advance, and cabin stays require reservations.

Silver Falls State Park itself is known as the “crown jewel” of the Oregon State Parks system, offering breathtaking natural attractions, including the famous Trail of Ten Falls, a nationally recognized hiking trail that winds through a dense forested landscape and passes a series of spectacular waterfalls, including the South Falls, where visitors can walk behind a waterfall. The trail is 7.2 miles long and is considered a moderate hike, with an overall elevation change of 800 feet. Several connecting trails with separate access points make shorter routes.

In addition to hiking, visitors can enjoy over 35 miles of backcountry trails for mountain biking, hiking, or horseback riding, with guided horseback rides available at the Silver Falls Riding Stables at Howard Creek.

The campground is also conveniently located near the South Falls Day-use area, which has spacious lawns, barbecue stands, picnic shelters, tables, a playground, horseshoe pits, and an off-lead area for dogs, making it an ideal destination for day trips and family gatherings. The Silver Falls Lodge and Conference Center offers comfortable lodging within the wooded setting, as well as catered specialty events and box lunches for hikers or campers on the go.

Nice Campground, Beautiful State Park

The campground is nice with well spaced out sites and hookups for RVS. There is a playground, flushing toilets and showers, ranger programs and plenty of stuff to do. We visited during the rainy season and our site was half flooded but we made the best of it. A camper down the way had a run in with a skunk and his dog in the middle of the night so watch out for that.
