Clyde Holliday Sate Park Campground Description

Clyde Holliday State Park in John Day, Oregon has 31 electrical and water hookup sites and 2 reservable teepees.  The State Park Campground is really the only nearby camping in the area of John Day and is located on the shores of the John Day River.

The campground caters more towards RV campers though it would be great for tent campers as well as the grounds are well manicured and covered in a lush green lawn.  There is a large day use park/area and abundant walking trails nearby.

Clyde Holliday State Park Campground has flushing toilets, free showers available for campers, potable water, ice for sale, firewood for sale and a dump station for RVs. The campground really has everything you could need and the nearby towns of Mt. Vernon and John Day have stores and restaurants for additional needs.

Overall this is one of the most well-manicured campgrounds we have ever stayed at.  The grounds are immaculate – grass is green and mowed and landscaping like we have never seen at a campground.  There are plenty of walking paths nearby and lots of picnic tables in the day use area.  The only complaint is the large number of mosquitos during the time we visited (early June) and they seem to come from the mucky swamp pond located directly behind the campground.  The pond looks man made so it seems they may have created their own mosquito problem.  Otherwise this is a great little campground and state park.
