2023 Campfire Restrictions Take Hold

As summer heats up campfire restrictions are beginning to take hold. Last year’s snowpack was significant and gave us hope for this year’s campfire season however several early heatwaves erased any chance of all that extra moisture helping out with fire season.

The Oregon State Parks department has issued campfire bans on a large number of parks effective July 14 and we can likely expect a near statewide ban on campfires by August 1. Central Oregon has also issued public use fire restrictions however that does NOT apply to designated campground fire rings.

If you think all of this is a little confusing, you are not alone. Each year the state comes out with fire restrictions, but it is always difficult to decipher where it applies and how. Hopefully the list below helps.
