Oak Slope Emigrant Lake Campground Description
Oak Slope Campground is a hillside retreat nestled within the Emigrant Lake County Park just outside Ashland, Oregon. Managed by Jackson County, this well-maintained campground features 40 campsites, most of which are best suited for tent campers due to limited parking space and tight road turns. With sweeping views of Emigrant Lake and a quiet, natural setting, Oak Slope is a favorite among campers seeking a peaceful Southern Oregon escape.
The campground is laid out in several looping roads that wind along the slope, offering lake views from many campsites. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, and the campground provides flushing toilets, hot showers, and potable water. While RVs are permitted, the compact layout makes it a better fit for smaller rigs or tent campers.
Just across the road from the campground is the main day-use area, which includes a boat ramp, a large playground, and picnic shelters. This area gives campers easy access to water recreation including kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing. In the warmer months, Emigrant Lake is a hub for outdoor activity, drawing families and adventurers alike.
Oak Slope Campground is also a convenient basecamp for exploring Ashland, located just a 10-minute drive away. Visitors often camp here while attending the renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival, one of the country’s premier theatrical events. The campground offers a quieter, more natural alternative to hotels in town, making it ideal for festival-goers looking to enjoy Ashland’s culture while staying connected to the outdoors.
Whether you’re coming to paddle the lake, enjoy a night under the stars, or take in a live performance in downtown Ashland, Oak Slope Campground at Emigrant Lake is a convenient and scenic camping option in Southern Oregon.
