Hoover Campground Description

Hoover Campground on Detroit Lake is one of several very popular lakeside campgrounds in the area and features 36 campsites, drinking water, flushing toilets, a boat ramp and water activity access.  The campground is located roughly 10 minutes from the small town of Detroit, Oregon and sits on the SE shore of Detroit Lake.

Hoover campground is a relatively new campground (or at least it was recently updated) and has an onsite camphost, firewood for sale and nice restroom facilities.  During the summer months this campground tends to reach capacity as it is very popular so reservations are recommended.

The nearby boat ramp makes Hoover Campground a great base camp for those looking to spend time on the water and the lakeshore is within a short walks distance from all the campsites.  Not all campsites are on the lakeshore though and even those that are may not be very close to the water.  Other nearby activities include fishing, hiking and swimming.

Overall Hoover Campsite is what you would expect from a well developed and easy to access area.  You will not find much privacy or solitude at this campground and you should be prepared for lakeside “party types” and people making noise and generally having lots of fun.
