Rainbow Campground Description

Rainbow Campground is located on the Oak Grove Fork of the Clackamas River not far from the Clackamas River itself. The campground is tucked down off of Highway 224 and is located across from the Ripplebrook Campground. There is plenty of privacy in the majority of the campsites and some of the sites are nestled up against the Oak Grove Fork of the Clackamas River which is more like a small creek. Swimming would not be ideal here as the creek is shallow and mostly shaded but it does provide soothing sound of running water. Overall this is a nice little campground that is great for a big city get-away.

  1. Camped here with some friends over the Memorial day weekend this year. It was so beautiful and we loved the chilled out smaller campground with so few sites. I think we stayed at campsite #8 which had nice access to the river, which we spent a lot of our time sitting by and watching. At this time of year (late May) there were mosquitos so bring pants and bug spray! Note some conflicting information— the “water onsite” is actually a short drive away at the nearby ripplebrook store, so be sure to bring your own water! Would definitely recommend this campground, especially the sites by the river. Not too far a drive from Portland, and not too far to Bagby Hot springs from here, either!
